Huntington Castle, Clonegal, County Carlow, the ancient seat of the Esmonde family, is one of Ireland's historical treasures. Presently lived in by four generations of the Durdin-Robertson family, descendents of the Esmondes, the castle is set in picturesque countryside at the foot of the Blackstairs mountains.

Built in 1625 on the site of a former 14th century stronghold and abbey, the castle has something to offer everyone. Features include lovely Victorian terraces, a temple to the Egyptian Goddess Isis in the undercroft, an ancient yew walk and 17th century formal gardens which date from the Esmonde’s tenure. There is also a Woodland Playground and a tea room.

House tours everyday during Heritage Week: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm

*Entry Fees for Castle Tours includes Garden & Playground:
Adults - €12.95 / Concessions - €11 / Children under 12 years old - €6

Unfortunately not wheelchair accessible or buggy friendly due to numerous staircases and tight corridors.
