Tours of Barmeath Castle and Gardens, Dunleer, Co. Louth
Barmeath Castle stands proudly on a wooded hillside, looking out over 10 acres of park to the mountains of the Cooley Peninsula and the Irish Sea. Home to the Bellew family since the 1670s, its garden was designed by Thomas Wright who came to Ireland in 1745. They include a lake, islands and a rustic rock bridge, which is typical of Wright’s work. Barmeath Castle is a member of Historic Houses of Ireland.
