The Soundscapes of Rossbeigh
As part of National Heritage Week, we're delighted to welcome poet, singer & songwriter Amano back to Rossbeigh for this community event exploring the soundscapes of Trá Ros Beithe.
Through a series of creative listening exercises, we'll be sensing into the elements that shape this place - the textured sounds of wind & water. We'll also be responding to pieces of local folklore which speak to the distinctive features of Rossbeigh's soundscape - from the famous Tonn Tóime, which at one time was said to be the loudest wave in Ireland, to the voice of the mermaid / murúch.
Thinking about the role music plays in our connections to water and coastal places, we'll be sharing a song that was written at the beach last Summer, bringing together the many voices of Rossbeigh.
This event will be facilitated by Amano Miura & Emily Fitzell - drawing on their collaborative work over the past year.
Meeting point - at the far end of the car park near the dunes.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or access requirements.
