23 August, 11am - 1pm

  • Flagmount, Co Clare
  • Co. Clare

This walk and talk led by Marina Levitina, co-founder and project officer of Lough Grainey Nature Sanctuary, will focus on the unique biodiversity of the river Graney in East Clare. Marina is the director of a documentary film Loch Gréine: A Bright Future, funded by the Heritage Council.

We will explore the unique biodiversity, including common and rare native plants and riparian woodlands, remnants of the ancient Oak forest, and mythology of the River Grainey, and will discuss why it is so important to protect the water quality in the Graney river and ways in which we can do this as a community. Marina will also talk about the Community Water Development Project that Lough Grainey Nature Sanctuary is currently running thanks to the LAWPro Community Water Development Fund.

This is a free public event but places are limited, please register your place by sending an email to marina@loughgrainey.org.

Directions will be sent upon registration.

Suitable for families with children over 10 years of age.

Walking level: easy to moderate (sturdy waterproof footwear is recommended).
