Guided Tours of Brú Chrónáin Monastic Garden and Round Tower Visitor Centre, Tower Road, Clondalkin
Rolling tours from 6pm until 8pm. Enjoy a guided tour around the beautiful gardens with their rich variety of plants and herbs common in the medieval period and echoing the monastic origins of this site. Hear about the medicinal and culinary herbs used daily by medieval monks, including some quirky cures and others that have proven the test of time! See what is reputed to be the oldest remaining fully-intact round tower in Ireland on this seventh century monastic site of St Crónán Mochua. Indoors, immerse yourself in the later Viking period when Clondalkin was a stronghold of the Norse Kings of Dublin and move forward to the late 18th and early 19th centuries to hear about the variety of mills that gave Clondalkin its early industrial might, all powered by the River Camac.
