The heart of rural crafts in Ireland

23 August, 11am - 2pm

Until recently, the blacksmiths shop was the heart of the rural community. It was a meeting place for exchanging knowledge and news and it was also the foundation of all other crafts in the area as the blacksmith was the only crafts person who could make his own and everyone else tools. He kept the farming community going by making and repairing their implements. All metal household goods were made by the blacksmith.

As a craft organisation, the Irish Heritage Crafts Co-op has put together a multidisciplinary craft demonstration based around the blacksmith, where we will explore the foundations of rural crafts in the Irish community.

Crafts on display will include blacksmithing, willow basket making, green woodwork and leather work.

Tickets- Adults €10, Children €5. Family ticket options available.
