
The Architecture and Sculpture of Boyle Abbey
Prof Roger Stalley, the foremost authority on the architecture of the medieval Cistercian monasteries of Ireland, will give a special talk and tour of Boyle Abbey on 23 August at 3 pm as part of National Heritage Week. Prof Stalley has been studying and writing about the subject for decades and most recently contributed a chapter on the architecture of Boyle Abbey to a substantial study of Boyle Abbey published by the National Monuments Service. Professor Stalley is an architectural historian with an international reputation and served a long tenure as Professor and head of the Department of the History of Art at Trinity College Dublin.
