Strategically adjacent to the River Shannon , Port Td. (Leitrim Village) has seen activity since 500 AD. Historic remains include Port Shan Castle, an abbey, ringforts, a souterrain, tunnels and much more. A well-researched history of the area will be presented, including a timeline of important local events of the period such as the defeat of the Normans at the Battle of Áth an Chip (1270 AD). Free event, rain or shine, on-site parking, refreshments available for purchase.
