What is a Specimen Tree Walk?

A specimen tree walk is a guided tour that focuses on notable individual trees—often rare, old, or unusually shaped—that stand out due to their size, age, species, or historical significance. These trees are referred to as "specimen trees" because they represent exceptional examples of their kind. During the walk, participants learn about the trees’ characteristics, origins, cultural stories, and ecological importance.
