Placemaking Heritage day capitalises on our local community's historical assets, inspiration, and potential, with the intention of creating public spaces that improve urban vitality and promote people's health, happiness, and well-being. This is our third year and we present to you the following Heritage programme:

Historic walk with Heritage Specialist, Martina McCarthy,
"Liscannor through the ages" Join Heritage Specialist Martina McCarthy to celebrate National Heritage Week 2024 by delving into the past and discovering the enduring legacy of Liscannor, a coastal village where connections, routes, and networks have continually shaped its identity and heritage. This immersive walk through time will uncover the fascinating stories of saints, seafarers, shipwrecks, and the stone industry, painting a vivid picture of Liscannor's rich and diverse heritage.
Discover the ancient routes and spiritual pathways carved by saints whose legacies continue to inspire. Trace the paths navigated by seafarers and the dramatic tales of shipwrecks that are part of Liscannor's maritime legacy. Learn about the networks of trade, communication and craftsmanship that powered the local stone industry, contributing to the village's economic and cultural development. Discover how the intricate connections between people, places, and events have woven together the vibrant heritage of Liscannor and defined this community through the ages.
