Belturbet Heritage Railway invites you to join us for Heritage Week celebrations — two weekends of stories, talks and shared traditions. We’re delighted to host a varied line-up of events exploring Belturbet’s past — from everyday life to the extraordinary moments that shaped our community.
Historian Dr Brendan Scott will share stories from 19th-century Belturbet (Saturday 16 August, 3pm). Hugh McGoldrick will talk about the local Post Office, alongside the opening of a special An Post exhibition prepared with the GPO (Sunday 17 August, 3pm).
Enjoy an evening of poetry and storytelling with local voices (Friday 22 August, approx. 6–7pm). Families can take part in Wild Child Day, a relaxed, self-guided scavenger hunt created in partnership with the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark (Saturday 23 August, 1–4pm). Exact details on location will be announced soon.
The programme concludes with a new theatre piece by Charlie McGuinness exploring themes of family and connection (Sunday 24 August, 4pm).
Follow us on social media and check local posters for the full schedule and updates. All events are free and take place in or around Belturbet Railway Museum.
This is the sixth year in a row that we’re proud to welcome you to Heritage Week at Belturbet!
