Michael O’Sullivan conducts a writing masterclass as part of Heritage Week 2024. He uses the SIRIUS building as a starting point for presentation and discussion. He explores themes inspired by the Old Yacht Club, located on the waterfront of Cobh – in which distinct histories and architecture, as well as past lives, can be imagined in relation to the site. The sessions include readings from a selection of his publications, exercises, and feedback on texts written by participants.
O’Sullivan’s writings are listed in the National Library of Ireland Catalogue and his poems, short stories, and reviews have appeared in distinguished anthologies and journals in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 1993 he won the American Cloverdale Prize for Poetry. Many writers have cited his unique workshops as being crucial breakthroughs in the transformation of their work.
