In anticipation of an upcoming book release, this exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich history, natural beauty, built heritage, culture, and folklore of Lough Corrib.

Both the exhibition and the companion book were created by local historian and author William Henry, developed in close collaboration with Corrib Beo, who initiated the concept. Together, they aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of this remarkable landscape.

We look forward to welcoming you. Fáilte romhat.

Lough Corrib, Ireland’s largest freshwater lake, spans 55 km from Galway City into Connemara, covering 44,000 acres. Often likened to an inland sea, its scenic, indented shores and diverse landscape have inspired people for centuries. Formed after the last Ice Age, the lake is divided into a shallow southern basin and a deeper northern section, and it supports one of the country's largest wetlands as a protected conservation area.

This exhibition, developed in advance of an upcoming book by local historian William Henry, explores the lake’s rich history, natural beauty, built heritage, culture, and folklore. Commissioned by Corrib Beo, both the book and exhibition aim to deepen public appreciation of Lough Corrib. Photographic support by Patrick McPhilbin.

Roimh leabhar atá le teacht, tugann an taispeántas seo léargas ar stair shaibhir,
áilleacht nádúrtha, oidhreacht thógtha, cultúr agus béaloideas Loch Coirib. Rinne
Corrib Beo coimisiúnú ar an dtaispeántas agus an leabhar araon – cruthaithe ag an
staraí áitiúil agus údar William Henry – chun feasacht agus meas níos fearr ar Loch
Coirib a chur chun cinn. Buíochas le Patrick McPhilbin as ucht an tacaíocht
ghrianghrafadóireachta.
