The New Lifford Museum, based in the historic Lifford Old Courthouse, is proud to take part in Heritage Week 2025, from August 18th to 22nd. This year’s theme, “Exploring Our Foundations,” invites communities across Ireland to connect with the stories and collections that have shaped our identity.

The museum features a remarkable blend of three heritage collections:
The County Donegal Historical Society Collection (formerly in Rossnowlagh)
The Donegal Ancestry Collection (formerly in Ramelton)
Artefacts from Lifford Old Courthouse

On display are items from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Penal Times, and the 18th & 19th centuries, as well as exhibits on Irish independence and Ireland’s cultural influence in Europe. Visitors can also view copies of the Book of Ballymote and The Annals of the Four Masters.

Highlights include artefacts connected to:
Napper Tandy, Irish revolutionary
Nurse Catherine Black, Royal nurse from Donegal
Beautiful examples of Muckish Glassware

The New Lifford Museum offers a rare opportunity to experience Donegal’s heritage in one location, within one of its most iconic historic buildings.

All are welcome to visit and explore.
