Kilkenny Newspaper Reports 1775

17 August, 9:30am - 10am

  • Co. Kilkenny

The year of 1775 in County Kilkenny, as captured in newspaper reports, mirrors the picture in the country as a whole. In his book, A Tour in Ireland in 1775, Richard Twiss described Kilkenny City as ‘a pleasant little town with a river running through it, over which are two bridges; one consisting of seven arches, and the other… of three. Here is an old castle, and near the cathedral a very high round tower’. There is a limited edition production of 100 booklets for Heritage Week 2025, with all proceeds going to charity, to compliment the online lecture.
