John Mulvany - From Moynalty to Montana - His art and life uncovered
In 1881, Moynalty born artist John Mulvany created the iconic painting 'Custer’s Last Rally', a dramatic portrayal of the 7th Cavalry’s defeat at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Hailing from the small townland of Dyrallagh in the parish of Moynalty, Mulvany also gained acclaim for works like The Battle of Aughrim and numerous other historical scenes. Yet despite his incredible achievements, he remains little known in his homeland.
This is a chance to rediscover a remarkable artist and the vibrant life he led. Presented by local historian and Moynalty native, Joe McKenna.
Tea, coffee and refreshments served afterwards.
