As part of the Island wide August Craft Month and the National Heritage Week we will be offering a series of introductory bladesmith courses aimed at diversifying the stereotypical smithing community
We are hoping to attract interest from a new generation of smiths or feed the dreams of anyone who has wishes to try their hands at making their own knife - we can cater for the total beginner to more experienced looking to deepen their understanding about this ancient craft
Taught by RDS Crafts Award winning bladesmith Sam Gleeson from his forge in Clare and supported by Ennistymon Arts Trail and The Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths
Working with hand tools to shape hot metal, fire quenching and grinding and sharpening - all the skills of the bladesmith will be explored and explained to give all participants the chance to leave with a knife made by their own hands.
Light lunch and refreshments provided, on site parking and facilities available.
