Christ Church Mountcharles built 1859 -1861. The land on which the church is built was donated by Marquis Conyngham and the funding was provided by the Board of First Fruits, as was the case with many Church of Ireland churches at this time.
The church itself remains largely original to this day, built from local sand stone, the church features triple lancet E windows, short chancel, porch and bellcote. The interior with original exposed trussed roof and Gothic oil lamp brackets.
We would like to welcome visitors from the locality and further afield to enter the doors of the church and discover its history.
During the day there will be the opportunity to join a walk and guided tour down to the "The Hall" house, built approximately in the 1750s by the Conynghams, this 3 storey house sits in close proximity to the church and retains many of its original features.
