Hidden Heritage Walk and Talk at Lisnawully Farm, Dundalk

The event is a guided walk and talk at Lisnawully Farm, Dundalk where we will view a ringfort with 3 standing stones reputed to be the graves of Ireland’s greatest warrior Cúchulainn along with wife Emer and son Connla. Legend has it that Cúchulainn wanted to be buried within sight of his home the fort of Dún Dealgan which is visible in the distance from the graves.
Daragh Smyth author and expert on the myths and legends of Ireland will speak about the life and times of the local hero.
A recently discovered carving of a Neolithic double spiral rock carving on an open-air rock in the farm's deer park will also be viewed. Archaeologist Aoibheann Lambe expert on rock art and Megalithic monuments will give a talk about this extraordinary find.
The talks should start around 8pm.
The walk is across open farmland and nature walks so appropriate footwear is advised. A reasonable level of fitness is needed.
Due to construction work in the area, the entrance to the farm is now through Lis na Dara Estate. Stewards will be directing traffic on approach.
