Join us for a tour of The Heritage Council's headquarters, the former Bishops Palace at Church Lane Kilkenny, whose construction began over seven centuries ago!
This beautiful historic building now called Áras na hOidhreachta has been home to the Heritage Council since 2008. For 800 years previous it served as the Bishop's residence. On this tour, you’ll hear about its past residents and its journey from ruination in the 1650s to the impressive structure that stands before us today.

Directions
Access to our headquarters is gained via Church Lane. Church Lane is the laneway surrounding St Canice’s Cathedral and can be accessed via Dean Street. Eircode R95 X264.
Parking
Please note that parking is NOT available at the Heritage Council HQ. If you are attending the event, we recommend that you park on Dean Street or at the Market Cross multi-story car park.
