Guided Historical Tour of Tullamore Courthouse

19 - 21 August, 11am - 12pm

  • Tullamore Courthouse
  • Cormac Street, Spoilanstown, Tullamore
  • Co. Offaly

Take a guided tour of Tullamore Courthouse and marvel at its architecture and history. The courthouse was designed by J.B. Keane and construction was completed in 1833. The courthouse was burned in 1922 on the departure of the republican forces from Tullamore and in 1925 it was rebuilt by the architect T. F. McNamara. As one of the most important public buildings within the town, this courthouse is a structure of merit, not simply for its impressive architectural design, but because it upholds historical and social significance to the people of Tullamore. The tour will take you around the building, pointing out its architectural features and you will hear about history over the years relating to the courthouse and some of its well-known trials.
