
Gordon Bennett Commemorative Veteran Car Event
The Veteran Car Club (Irish Section) is proud to host a special three-day event commemorating the historic 1903 Gordon Bennett Race — a defining moment in Irish and international motorsport history. This commemorative run will bring together members from Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the UK, showcasing a stunning collection of pre-1919 veteran cars.
Over the course of three days, participants will follow organised routes through the scenic landscapes of Counties Kildare, Carlow, Laois and Wicklow, stopping at key heritage and cultural landmarks along the way. These planned heritage stops will offer the public a rare opportunity to view these beautiful vintage vehicles up close and learn more about the legacy of the Gordon Bennett Race.
Public display in various places throughout the counties of Kildare & Wicklow, eg: , the Irish National Stud & Gardens, Kildare (Thursday 14th August, 10.30 to 12:00 approx.), Curragh Military Museum ( Friday 15th August, 15:15 to 16:00 approx.), Russborough House, Blessington (Saturday 16th August 11.15 to 12.45 approx.)
This unique event not only promotes interest in veteran motoring but also celebrates the rich cultural and motoring heritage of Ireland. Visitors and car enthusiasts alike are encouraged to come along, admire these remarkable machines, and join us in honouring one of Ireland’s most historic races.
