This August, immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Irish history, music, and literature as Drumcliffe Church opens its doors to celebrate Heritage Week from August 16th to 24th.

Free Guided Tours
Throughout the week, free audio-guided and in-person tours of Drumcliffe Church and its historic grounds will be available to all visitors. Learn about the site's deep monastic roots, its connection to St. Colmcille (Columba), and the enduring legacy of Ireland’s saints, poets, and pilgrims.

Live Music & Cultural Performances
Experience the soul of Drumcliffe through live performances on-site from a vibrant mix of local and guest musicians,

Poetry & Storytelling
In honour of W.B. Yeats, visitors will enjoy readings by local poets and writers, sharing both their original works and selected poems by Yeats—bringing literature to life at the poet’s final resting place.

Recreate the Psalter – A Community Art Project
Join in a unique, hands-on community project to help recreate a modern-day version of the Psalter, the book of psalms said to have been copied by St. Colmcille. Using quill and ink, visitors of all ages can try their hand at this ancient art and contribute to a collaborative heritage keepsake.

Teach Bán Gallery – Events & Talks

August 18th, 7:30–9:00 PM – Music evening with Ian Boardley and Ray Coen

August 20th, 7:00–8:30 PM –Live reading and conversation with the author of Cures of Ireland, delving into the healing traditions and folk culture of Ireland.
