18 August, 2pm - 5pm

- Co. Cork County
In his novel ‘Overstory’ Richard Powers calls trees ‘the most wondrous products of four billion years of life’ and ‘emissaries of creation’.
This walk and talk with native woodland specialist Ted Cook and geographer Diarmuid Crowley explores the benefits and cycles of the global forest. It takes place in 'Philip's Wood', part of Castleblagh Woods south of Ballyhooly in County Cork.
The walk follows a stream flowing down from the Nagle Mountains into Gleann na nDibergach (The Glen of the Outlaws). This stream marks the line of the Claidh Dubh, an iron age territorial boundary and routeway that stretches across the Blackwater valley.
Guide dogs only. Please bring suitable footwear for some uneven terrain. Please bring a packed lunch.
