Exploring Our Foundations - Tipperary Museum Family Day

Exploring our Foundations - On Saturday 23rd August from 11am -4pm the car park at Mick Delahunty Square, Clonmel will be transformed into a medieval settlement as part of Tipperary Museums Free Family Day exploring the origins of Clonmel as a Medieval Walled Town.
The Medieval re-enactment will feature food, board games and pastimes, spinning and weaving, battle including health and hygiene, a weapons display and traditional craft demonstrations with opportunities for visitors to interact with re enactors, handle artefacts, view traditional craft workers demonstrate their skills in stone and wood working, straw and rush craft and there will be a chance to take part and try your hand at some of the activities.
The Big Dig excavation in association with The School of Irish Archaeology will allow all the family to try their hand at being an archaeologist.
Michael Fortune of Folklore.ie will present a lecture at 11.30am in Clonmel Library on his Irish Dressers project. There will be story telling with Bálor in Clonmel Library from 2pm -3pm and art and craft workshops with Evelyn Kelly in the Museum at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm.
With something for everyone of all ages come along to celebrate Clonmel’s medieval heritage and Tipperary Museums heritage this August 23rd.
