Woodhouse Museum is situated on the Woodhouse Estate, Stradbally, County Waterford.

The demesne is steeped in the history of County Waterford. Here, alongside the River Tay, extensive woods were planted in the eighteenth century, providing a beautiful vista which, through careful management, continues to this day.

A visit to the Museum offers an opportunity to study and discover how generations of interconnected families ran the Estate, which still remains a working farm. Fitzgeralds, Uniackes and Beresfords lived here in the past centuries before the Estate was acquired by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson in 2012; the owners devoted considerable skills to the restoration and rejuvenation of the house and lands. The Museum presents the story of the estate in an unbiased and objective manner, giving an insight into the lives of members of historically influential families, bridging the past with the present, and giving a glimpse of the future. In doing so, the Museum strives to shed light on the social, economic, and intellectual life of not just the owners of the estate but those who worked at Woodhouse and contributed to its success.

As part of Heritage Week, the curator of the Museum will speak about the meaning and importance of exploring the foundations of history in Woodhouse and its multifaceted identity. Along with this personal introduction to the history of the house and the estate, the Museum offers additional information through the unique exhibition, video presentation, touch screen, and a walk in the walled garden.

Owing to limited space, booking in advance is essential.
You'll need a drive to the walled garden. A separate car park is provided.
We welcome donations to the Laura Lynn Children's Hospice.
