Who were the men and women whose achievements have given us hours of pleasure, through varied fields including entertainment, sport, art and literature? There are so many sons and daughters of Nenagh – we celebrate some of these and their achievements in Nenagh Tourist Office with our display of photographs, art work and memorabilia. Some of these have made their name on the world stage in fields such as business (the Collison Brothers), literature (Donal Ryan), song writing (Brendan Graham) and sport (Donnacha Ryan). Our hurling heritage is one of our central attractions with the Tipperary Hurling Throne by artist Paul Finch and a hurling All-Star kindly donated by Michael Cleary, four time Hurling All-Star winner. We also have other displays of the work of Gerardine Wisdom, Lynn Kirkham, Josephine Geaney, Philip Ryan, Reggie Goodbody and the photography of Pádraig Ó Flannabhra.
Designed by Scroope Design (Ann Scroope) Nenagh Tourist Office is an opportunity to explore Nenagh’s past as displayed including the unique wallpaper, portraying the Fair of Nenagh and enjoy the fabulous video by Robin Wallace showing the wonderful landscape and attractions of the area. The men and women commemorated and celebrated are part of the foundations of what makes Nenagh what it is – a town with a story to tell!
Our most recent additions celebrate the late, great Shane MacGowan and his legacy through his music as we remember how much the town and area meant to him.
During Heritage Week come and view our exhibition and be given a guided tour filled with the anecdotes and legacies of our local heroes.
