Explore the quiet back roads of North Tipperary by eBike, calling in at 4 of the ancient churches of the Killodiernan and Monsea parish. A guest from the Ormond Historical Society will give a short talk on the history of the churches and stories associated with them, and the group will have the opportunity to wander around the ruined buildings and explore the churchyards. At last year's similar event we enjoyed lively discussions, and some of the group were enthused to come back to visit the sites again afterwards.
This tour showcases the beauty of the Tipperary countryside, tracking along the old lanes connecting the ancient sacred sites, which were once at the very heart of the communities they served, and are now havens of peace and quiet. A great way to learn more about the history of the area while enjoying the scenery.
The tour involves around 90 minutes of eBiking, but this includes plenty of breaks and there will be plenty of opportunities to pause and admire the view. The pace of cycling will be suited to the group, and it is suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. Under 18s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Event is free of charge to participants, subject to Local Authority funding, which will be confirmed at a later date.
