Donovan Silversmiths - Three Generations of Craftsmanship
The late Peter Donovan, Master Silversmith (1942-2023), was a highly skilled silversmith, designer and tutor. Peter began his career in the Silver Shop at KDW, Kilkenny Design Workshops, in 1964. He then went on to open his own workshop in 1969. Peter's work both in domestic ware and sacred art is world renowned. His dedication as a tutor at NCAD and Grennan Mill Craft School underlined his wish to preserve our ancient and traditional craft.
His daughters, Victoria, Master Silversmith, and Denise, Goldsmith, joined him in the 1990s and his granddaughter, Molly, became an apprentice in 2021.
Donovan Silversmiths continues the legacy of our family craft with silversmithing, designing and tutoring at the forefront of our ethos.
We are delighted to introduce a short series of original photographs, taken from Donovan Silversmiths' private collection, showcasing creations from the Donovan Workshop spanning over 50 years and three generations.
These images give an insight to the works themselves, the environment in which they were created and the people who created them, bringing the ancient tradition of Irish silversmithing into a contemporary context.

The photographs will be displayed in the outside front window and the front bar.
