Communities For Dark Skies Online Heritage Week Event Compressed

Connecting Ireland’s Network of Dark Sky Advocates

20 August, 7pm - 9pm

  • Co. Mayo

During Heritage Week 2024 we are focused on “Connections, Routes & Networks”.

Dark Sky Ireland would like to invite you to an online workshop where you will hear all about Ireland’s three Accredited Dark Sky Areas, how they were formed and the benefits that they have brought to their respective communities – Mayo Dark Sky Park, Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve and OM Dark Sky Park & Observatory. You will have the opportunity to network with other Dark Sky Advocates and Ambassadors across the Island of Ireland, share your experiences and learn what communities are embracing their beautiful Dark Skies and why.

In addition, we will provide you with the knowledge and toolkits you will need to apply for a Dark Sky Accreditation in your community and hold an open forum where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions which you might have.

Dark Sky Ireland’s vision is that Ireland’s night skyscapes are celebrated, restored and protected for present and future generations of all living things and it is our mission to achieve this by empowering community custodians & ambassadors like you, to protect Ireland’s night sky as a natural habitat and a shared heritage.

A zoom link for this online workshop will be sent via the email address provided during registration 48 hours prior to the event.
