Old School - 1935
1. An exhibition celebrating 60 years of Tidy Towns in Clarecastle 1963-2023. Many photographs of the Village in the 1960s.
Who’s Been Living in my House.
2. Illustrated talk. During Covid, Kathy Roughan, a Clarecastle native living in Sydney, transcribed over 1,000 pages of property records for Clarecastle & Ballyea parish from 1855 to 1970, and kindly donated to Clarecastle & Ballyea Heritage. Her work and how to find your house will be demonstrated. Ownership records of these buildings serve as a wonderful source of family and social history.
Thursday 17 August - Barntick House
Meet at Barntick for a limited viewing of the house that dates back to 1661, with a short talk on the history of the house by Joe Power.
Sunday 20 August
Clarecastle Men’s Shed Display Abbey Hall
A Display of old farm machinery restored by the men of the Shed. These fine old machines were donated to the Shed by local farmers and others and have been restored to working order in many cases. The walls of the workshop have a wonderful display of hand tools and small items and the workshop will be open to visitors on the day.
