Celebrating the Inscription of Amateur Drama on the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Practices - A Gathering Programme on Radio Kerry

24 August, 9am - 10:30am

  • Radio Kerry broadcast from studio on the Saturday Supplement programme
  • Co. Kerry

In July 2024, the Amateur Dramatic Tradition was inscribed on the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. To celebrate this incredible achievement, listen in to the Saturday Supplement Programme on August 24th from 9am.

Join with members of the amateur dramatic fraternity from Co. Kerry to celebrate in performance and story, the history of amateur drama in the county, and in Ireland as a whole. Dr. Fiona Brennan, Theatre Historian, as well as members of Co. Kerry groups will join the presenter Joe McGill in studio.

Also participating are the directors of the Drama League of Ireland, Amateur Drama Council of Ireland and the Executive Committee of the All-Ireland Drama Festival (Athlone). Learn how you might document and preserve your amateur dramatic histories, and record your own stories too.

We want to hear your stories! The programme is live, so feel free to ring in!
