Celebrate Water Heritage Day in Louisburgh

25 August, 11am - 2pm

  • Louisburgh Townhall
  • Long Street, Louisburgh, Co Mayo
  • F28 AP58
  • Co. Mayo

Join us in Louisburgh to celebrate Water Heritage Day on Sunday 25th August 2024.

Learn about the different species that live in our local rivers and have a real hands-on experience of how to identify the fish and insects.

Meet at 11am in Louisburgh Town Hall to register and have an introduction to our local rivers. We will walk to the banks of the Bunowen River where we have activities for all ages including an electrofishing display, kick sampling demo and examination of the species caught. Then we can go indoors to Books at One to look more closely using microscopes. We head back to Louisburgh Town Hall around 1:30pm for light refreshments, knowledge sharing and a presentation by our guest speaker from Inishowen Rivers Trust.

This event is a collaboration of Louisburgh-Killeen Heritage and Climate Action Louisburgh Locality, (C.A.L.L.) and supported by “Blue Dot to the Sea Campaign”, funded by LAWPRO Catchment Support Fund and Inishowen Rivers Trust.

This is a free family friendly event, but children must be accompanied by adults.

This is an outdoor and indoor event so please dress for the unpredictable ever changing “summer” weather!

In the event of extremely bad weather, Climate Action Louisburgh Locality C.A.L.L. reserve the right to cancel/postpone or change the event.
