Come and join us in Castleblakeney Heritage Centre and journey with us through the years of this small Historical Village from the Gallagh Bog Man, the O’Kelly Family, the Blakeneys and the Scottish connection, with the Battle of Culloden in 1746 and the Highland clearances. To the wedding of Sarah Kelly Blakeney & John McManus in 1806 in this once Church of Ireland, to Horse Fairs and a Four Mile Racing tract in the 1740s to the Famines of 1820 and 1840.
Make a connection with Mary Ann Taylor who lived and left here in 1852 along with 35 other girls and many families for a new life in Western Australia. Learn also about the lives of the Blakeney Family through the eyes of one of the young daughters through her Diary from 1820 to 1900. Everyone is welcome to visit and share your memories and learn much more of this little village. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10am till 4pm, and Saturday from 2 to 5 for Heritage week.
