Built in Stone – A Walking Tour of Ballina

Join us for a Heritage Week walk exploring the rich geological story of Ballina and North Mayo area. Discover how this geology has shaped Ballina’s development and contributed to its character.

We’ll delve into Ballina’s setting along the banks of the River Moy and examine the use of both local and imported stone in the town’s architectural heritage.

Leading the walk is Dr. Siobhán Power, Senior Geologist with the Geological Survey of Ireland, who will bring expert insight and engaging stories from the ground beneath our feet.
