To celebrate the 140th anniversary of Waterville's 1st transatlantic cables come and join us for a fascinating tale of times and tenacity! Dorothy and Amy Rudd will share the fascinating story of how Commercial Cable Company broke the cable monopoly and some of the history of Waterville Cable Station.
Talk will commence shortly after 3pm launch of "Coast to Coast Aboard the Fadaday" exhibition
Dorothy Rudd grew up in Waterville Cable Station. With her father working as Superintendent and her brother later becoming the last Superintendent of the Station she was immersed in the life of the Cable Station. For over 2 decades she has highlighted the importance of Waterville's Cable Heritage and formed Friends of Waterville Cable Station in 1999.
Amy Rudd shares her mother's passion for preserving the unique heritage of Waterville Cable Station and has researched extensively Waterville's cable history uncovering long forgotten histories. She curates The Story of Waterville Cable Station exhibition which is located in Tech Amergin.
