Aimed at those with an introductory knowledge of blacksmithing skills, this course will over 4 days expose novice smiths to a range of toolmaking techniques including gaining an understanding of carbon content in steel, demonstrations of different heat treating processes and practical toolmaking skills. The learners will use traditional techniques to forge their own tools for use in their own forges and in their own continued learning in the trade.

This course will be delivered at the forge at College of Further Education and Training, Cappamore Campus, Co. Limerick, which is a designated Centre of Excellence for Blacksmithing Skills and home to Ireland’s only City and Guilds certified training course in Ironcraft and Blacksmith Skills.
