This National Heritage Week, Vincent Wildlife Trust's Kate McAney is hitting the road with a special mission: to spread awareness about the Lesser Horseshoe Bat. She'll be hosting an event in each of the six counties where this elusive species is found. Six counties, six events — one incredible journey into the world of lesser horseshoe bats!
Join Kate in County Galway's Garryland Woods for a bat walk, where you will have the opportunity to see bats in flight and listen to their calls using bat detectors. This bat walk will have a special focus on the woodland specialist, the Lesser Horseshoe Bat.
This family-friendly event welcomes children accompanied by an adult. Please come prepared with sturdy footwear, suitable outdoor clothing, insect repellent and a torch. The walk will last up to two hours, taking you on woodland tracks and returning to the car park in the dark.
Kindly note: No dogs allowed. No toilet access. The event is weather-dependent.
These events are supported by the Biodiversity Officer network and NPWS staff.
