A market town rich with history and heritage, Bandon town was the Southernmost Walled Plantation town with roots back to 1588 and its' name comes from the river upon whose banks it was built up over time. It's founder Richard Boyle claimed that its' walls 'were more in compass with Londonderry, and that my walls are thicker and stronger than theirs'. The walls fell in 1689 and Bandon has grown and embraced all who call it home.
