Ballyshannon's Railways Remembered

19 August, 7pm - 9pm

  • Dorrian's Imperial Hotel
  • Main St, Ballyshannon
  • F94 TKA4
  • Co. Donegal

The Donegal Railway Museum will be joining forces with Ballyshannon and District Museum for this Heritage Week event in Dorrian’s Hotel, Ballyshannon on Tuesday 19th August at 7pm. We’ll be celebrating the 120 year anniversary of the County Donegal Railway’s Ballyshannon branch, but don’t worry – we’ll also be discussing the town’s Great Northern station and all the other stops on the CDR branch, including Laghey, Bridgetown, Ballintra, Rossnowlagh and Creevy.

On the night, we’ll have a presentation by railway historian Jim McBride featuring photographs of the various stops and stations. We also want this event to bring the community together for a bit of a railway reunion, however, and will be opening the floor afterwards for people to share their stories!

As part of the proceedings, both museums will bring a selection of relevant artefacts along for display. If you have your own, you’re more than welcome to bring them too!
