Ballybofey,Stranorlar & District Heritage Week

Ballybofey, Stranorlar & District Heritage Week which starts for the group on Monday 18th of August at 7 pm, with the Historical Tour of Stranorlar. This tour starts in the Church of Ireland Graveyard and finishes at Mary's Church Main Street Stranorlar. Along this route will visit graves of famous local people in both graveyards in Stranorlar and hear of where local people lived in bygone days as well as the Drumboe Martyrs ,Stranorlar Railway station just to name a few. There will be light refreshments served afterwards in the Parish Centre behind St Mary's Church.On Tuesday the 19th August at 7 pm, the Historic tour of Ballybofey will start at McBrides Fireplaces at the top of Donegal Street and finish at the Bridge. Again you will be able to hear of famous local people and the historical buildings in Ballybofey. There will be light refreshments served afterwards in the Parish Centre behind St Mary's Church Stranorlar.
On Wednesday 20th August at 7.30 pm there will be an evening on Genealogy & Starting your family tree in the Henderson Hall Stranorlar (F93 XV29), where we will hear from a panel of local people how they went about building their own trees.
The final event for the local group will be on Thursday the 21st August at 7.30 pm in the Finn Valley College Stranorlar, a Reminiscence of old Photos and Stories of the past from around the local area. All events are free of charge.
