Read and record the historic headstones of Ardmore Round Tower graveyard. This is a one day workshop aimed at continuing a 2021 survey of the old burial ground in Ardmore.
Volunteers are invited to come for a day or an hour and learn how to read and record headstones as part of a survey which will be published to https://historicgraves.com/graveyard/ardmore/wa-ardm. Thick soled boots, sunhats and warm clothing are recommended. All lights, clipboards, pens will be provided.
Part of a collaboration with Ardmore Tidy Towns this survey is aiming to gather sufficient information to produce a book on the graveyard in the near future.
There is free parking in the village (on the Dungarvan road) or limited parking at the graveyard roadside.
We will show how to read old headstones using torches and mirrors and the system which has resulted in over 900 community surveys being done all over Ireland since 2011.
