Explore Kerry's built environment with Victoria McCarthy, Conservation Officer with Kerry County Council. This talk will focus on Kerry’s built heritage across the centuries, along the byroads, villages, and towns of the county. You will see buildings built by lords and the landless, those built of stone and of clay, the ghosts of once-vibrant settlements that are now only seen on old maps, and those that continue to bring beauty to our everyday lives. From the temples of Ancient Greece to the courthouses of Kerry, from castles along Kenmare Bay to the thatched farmhouses of North Kerry, from maritime structures of war to buildings of worship, from Kerry’s Famine workhouses to seaside villas, from ancient round towers to twentieth century pyramids, this talk will bring you on a journey of exploration of Kerry’s architecture through time.
