Ar Lorg Luimneach Laighean (Looking for Limerick of Leinster)
This event will bring together community members, project participants, and anyone with an interest in history and heritage for a special event showcasing the exciting progress of the Heritage Council-funded project, Ar Lorg Luimneach Laighean (Looking for Limerick of Leinster). This ongoing project is uncovering the rich, layered history of Limbrick/Limerick, from Early Christian times to the present.
What You Can Expect:
• Cutting-Edge Imagery: See how advanced technology is revealing previously hidden features of the landscape that point to a more significant site that we previously imagined.
• Digital Artifacts: See how we're preserving Limerick's heritage through the creation of digital 3-D models from the site.
• Hear updates from our professional archaeologists on their interpretation of Limbrick and its history to date.
• Learn about the famous historical names that have been associated with Limbrick
Come for the updates, stay for the stories-and help us uncover the rich heritage of our community! In addition to updates from the project we will engage with locals about memories of Limbrick and knowledge of any unusual stones or structures that people might recall from the site, knowledge of previous work in the old graveyard, or indeed any other information that might help us locate artefacts, understand how Limbrick has changed in recent decades or even establishing dates from the site.
Whether you're a local with deep roots in the area, or simply someone passionate about uncovering the past, your participation will help shape our understanding of Limerick/Limbrick's history.
