An Evening at Boland's Mills
Celebrating the Natural and Built heritage of the Kings River with a special visit to Bolands Mill, Kells, Co Kilkenny. It is one of seven mills on the Kings River and a mill has existed here since the 11th century with the current operational until the 1980s. The milling mechanisms are still in situ and fascinating to see and hear about. We will explore the mill, mill race and the angling on the Kings River during the visit.
We will also hear from Nore Vision Chairperson Bob Wemyss , Founder member of Salmon Watch Ireland 2006 which is a voice for salmon conservation in Ireland and will share with us the journey of the salmon and it’s migration route and also share the efforts of Nore Suir Rivers Trust in conserving salmon by making alternations to the weir to ensure fish can make the journey upstream to their spawning grounds.
