All You Who Love Scenery - Song Tour of Leitrim

21 August, 5pm - 8pm

  • Bush Hotel Carpark
  • Carrick-on-Shannon
  • N41 H5P1
  • Co. Leitrim

Inspired by an invitation from the late balladeer, Josie McDermott, "All you who love scenery with me come along, to the grand County Leitrim of story and song". Join traditional singer and researcher, Fionnuala Maxwell and The Leitrim Larks on a mini bus tour through Leitrim where you can take in the sights, sounds, history and lore of Leitrim as seen through the lens of various traditional ballads from the county.

Interspersed with songs, poetry, stories and nuggets of information along the way, discover a unique history of Leitrim as you stop off at relevant points. From the Tuath de Danann to Fionn MacCumhaill, the ollphéist and the dobhar chú, the musical and mythical heritage and the glimpses of folk-life to be gleaned from each ballad - there is something for everyone.

Come along, sing along if you wish or simply enjoy the views.

Supported by Leitrim County Council and Heritage Council Ireland
