
A History of St John the Baptist's Church, Midleton
From the foundation of a Cistercian abbey before 1177 to the present day the site of St John the Baptist's Church in Midleton has been at the heart of the town. The site marks the foundation of the town and the adjoining graveyard is the ancient burial place for the town's inhabitants. The present church was opened in 1825 and this talk marks the bicentenary of the completion of the church.
