On Saturday 20th August, Monasterboice Tourism & Tidy Towns together with Drumshallon Forge and Ramblers Country Tracks are delighted to host an event to celebrate Heritage Week 2022.
A Blacksmith demonstration by Thomas O'Reilly.
A walk & talk in the grounds of Piperstown House led by Seán McCormack.
En route, Philip King will outline the history of Piperstown House and the Smith Family which will be of huge interest to many locals whose parents and grandparents worked there over the years. This is a 6km cross country walk but we are allowing 2 hours to include Philip's talk.
We will have light refreshments back in Drumshallon Forge at 4pm with Thomas giving another Blacksmith demonstration.
We will be joined by Beekeeper Jim Agnew for a talk about beekeeping.
Brian Smith from Piperstown will show some archived cine film taken in and around Piperstown, Dunleer, Clogherhead and other local places. While he has many reels of film, Brian has put together about 40 minutes of footage for us. This is well worth a look!
This is a free event and people are welcome to attend some or all of the afternoon. We look forward to seeing everyone on the day.
Our sincere thanks to the Smith Family for helping to make this happen.
