105th Anniversary: Assault & Capture of the R.I.C. Barracks, Ballymahon.

To mark the 105th anniversary, of the Assault and Capture of the R.I.C. Barracks in Ballymahon, Co. Longford, which took place early in the morning, of the 20th August 1920, Ballymahon 'Leo Casey' Historical Society are hosting, a talk to be delivered by the renowned author and Irish Republican historian, Seán ÓSúilleabháin.

This single brave act by General Sean MacEoin, Sean Connolly and the very brave local men and women, who voluntarily laid down their lives for Ireland's independence, during the Irish War of Independence 1919 - 1921, helped to shape our nation’s future, and alone, was one of the many acts, that were instrumental in driving our success in becoming an independent nation, after approximately 800 years of oppression, under British Rule.
