Charles Bianconi, Father of Connections, Routes and Networks

The Bianconi Chapel in Boherlahan village will be open to the public during Heritage Week 2024 on three different days. An exhibition will outline Charles Bianconi's life and times and the story behind the construction of the Chapel. The display will also explain the project currently under way for the conservation and maintenance of the Chapel. An Architectural Heritage Report on the building is being prepared and planned work includes preservation of the Benzoni marble reliefs inside. Next year, 2025, will be the 150th anniversary of the death of Charles Bianconi, the pioneer of regular public transport in Ireland during the 19th century.
